GlobalData is hiring Analysts and Senior Analysts for its Healthcare – Pharma team in Hyderabad. The role focuses on researching advanced drug modalities such as ADCs, cell and gene therapies, bispecific antibodies, and RNA-based therapies, and capturing detailed scientific information for pharmaceutical and biotech intelligence databases.

Analyst / Senior Analyst – Healthcare

Position Details

• Position: Analyst / Senior Analyst
• Team: Healthcare – Pharma

Education

Candidates should have one of the following qualifications:

• M.Pharm or M.S. (Pharm) in Pharmacology, Biotechnology or a related specialisation
• M.Sc. or M.Tech in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Immunology, Genetics, Microbiology or a related life-science discipline
• PhD in a relevant field such as Immunology, Cell and Gene Therapy, Nucleic Acid Chemistry or Antibody Engineering

Experience

• 2–5 years of relevant experience in:

  • Pharmaceutical or biotech R&D
  • Academic research
  • CROs
  • Pharmaceutical intelligence
  • Scientific data curation

• Candidates with a PhD and 2+ years of industry or postdoctoral experience are also encouraged to apply.
• Hands-on laboratory or research experience in at least one advanced modality is strongly preferred.
• Relevant modalities include:

  • Cell therapy
  • Gene therapy or gene editing
  • Antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs)
  • Nucleic acid therapies
  • Antibody engineering

• Experience in cell-based therapies is particularly valued.
• Experience with taxonomy or ontology development, biomedical data curation or scientific classification is highly desirable.

Scientific Knowledge & Skills

Candidates should have:

• In-depth understanding of at least one advanced drug modality and working knowledge of others.
• Strong foundation in molecular biology, immunology and pharmacology.
• Understanding of drug targets and mechanisms of action.
• Good knowledge of the drug development lifecycle, from discovery through post-marketing.
• Familiarity with drug naming conventions, including WHO INN nomenclature for biologics and cell and gene therapies.

Taxonomy & Data Skills

• Ability to break complex scientific information into well-defined and mutually exclusive attributes.
• Understanding of taxonomy principles, including:

  • Hierarchies
  • Controlled vocabularies
  • Synonym management

• Familiarity with MeSH, NCI Thesaurus, Gene Ontology or ChEBI is an advantage.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups and data validation.
• Basic SQL or scripting knowledge is an advantage.
• Ability to use AI-assisted research tools responsibly and verify their output carefully.

Research & Communication

• Strong systematic secondary research skills across:

  • PubMed
  • Clinical trial registries
  • Patent databases
  • Regulatory sources
  • Conference abstracts and presentations

• Strong attention to detail and critical-thinking skills.
• Ability to identify incorrect, incomplete or conflicting information.
• Clear written English and ability to document definitions, rules and decision rationale.
• Ability to work independently as well as within a global team.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

Modality Research & Data Capture

• Conduct in-depth secondary research on drugs across different modalities and development stages.
• Research drug development from discovery and preclinical stages through clinical development and approval.
• Extract detailed technical attributes such as:

  • Construct design
  • Delivery systems
  • Chemistry
  • Engineering features

• Research information from scientific publications, conference abstracts and posters, patents, clinical trial registries, regulatory documents and company disclosures.
• Interpret complex, incomplete or ambiguous technical information and determine what can be reliably captured.
• Maintain clear source references.
• Track new drugs, pipeline events and emerging technologies within assigned modalities.

Taxonomy Development & Classification

• Contribute to the design and development of modality taxonomies.
• Develop hierarchical categories, attribute fields, controlled vocabularies and permitted values.
• Write definitions, inclusion and exclusion criteria, and classification rules.
• Build and maintain synonyms and naming conventions.
• Classify and map drugs to the relevant taxonomy.
• Apply classification rules consistently across records.
• Document curation guidelines, decision logs and worked examples.

Data Quality & Database Management

• Create, review and update drug records in GlobalData databases.
• Identify missing, outdated or inconsistent information.
• Cross-check information across multiple sources.
• Perform quality checks on research and database outputs.
• Flag data-quality issues and work with relevant team members to resolve them.

Collaboration & Delivery

• Work with analysts, subject matter experts and managers to resolve scientific and classification questions.
• Collaborate with product, data and technology teams to translate taxonomies into database structures and search features.
• Share modality knowledge with the wider team.
• Support quality improvement initiatives.
• Manage assigned work and deliver within agreed timelines.
• Collaborate with global teams across different time zones.
